Message: December 1st is Emmett's birthday, and this year he is 4 years old!
Emmett helped make a triple-decker chocolate cake; he was in charge of batter and quality control.
After dinner we gave him our presents. Below is Emmett opening a puppy play-doh factory. It's a really neat set!
There is a large dog that you can put pla-doh into, and it creates a tounge and hair for the dog. There are also molds that you can use to create water/food bowls, toys for the dog, dog bones, etc.
My favorite piece of the set is the dog food maker called Kibble Kranker. You load up the
maker with play-doh, and crank the handle, and it spits out little dog
food bits in the shapes of circles, squares, hearts and stars!
The past few weeks Garrison has been furniture crusing: Holding onto the wall, couch, chair, etc., to enable himself to walk. Then, whenever he gets to the end of the furniture, he sits down and crawls the rest of the way to wherever he wants to go.
Over the weekend Garrison was holding onto dad's hand in the middle of the livingroom floor, and he really wanted to get to mom who was sitting on the couch. He stood up, stretched as far as he could get dad's hand to go, and then let go and took 4 steps over to mom!
Since then we have seen him take 2-3 short steps on his own.
Fairly soon he should be confident enough to walk much farther distances on his own, and mom's "baby elbow" (simmilar to tennis elbow- but resulting from carrying Garrison) and dad's back should heal right up since they won't be carrying him!
Message: This past weekend we went to Big Cedar Inn and Silver Dollar City with our friends the Clutes. They're the ones that have dogs so I don't have to; while they're away (except this past weekend) we watch Holly and Ginger for them. O.J., Miss Chris, Riley and Lizard shared one of their family's favorite get aways with Chris, the boys, Omi and Grumpy and me.
Omi and Grumpy drove down with Emmett and his new TS3 DVD in their van and Chris and I took G in ours. We managed to turn a 4 hour trip into an 8 hour one! Chris and I did it both ways, Omi, Grumpy and Em managed to make it back in about 5 hours.
On the way down Chris and I stopped with G at the World's Largest Rocking Chair, we'd seen the signs when we went to the Lake a couple months ago, but didn't stop. When we saw them this time we did stop to see it. It's BIG!
After stopping at the rocker, we drove to Springfield to Bass Pro, where we met up with Omi, Grumpy and Emmett for a wiggle break. Then, it was off to Lambert's for lots of throwed rolls and dinner. Emmett loved throwing his hands up in the air as soon as he heard them call out, "HOT ROLLS!" He didn't get upset about getting hit in the head this time and laughed it off. He must have caught a dozen rolls, and eaten the middles out of at least 1/2 of them. I had the best pulled pork sandwich, Chris had a burger and Omi and Grumpy both had chicken fried steak.
Finally, we made it to big Cedar and got to meet up with Lizard and O.J. who showed us to our condo home for the weekend. Then Em and Lizard watched Toy Story and ate puppy chow! And of course both of the boys took time to play in the jacuzzi bath tub in our room!
Saturday we got up and had breakfast then, left the boys with Lizard so we could go to hear the sales pitch about buying into a vacation package with Big Cedar, we had no interest in the vacation package (but think we spotted some suckers in our group) but wanted the 'Big Cedar bucks' so we could purchase our Silver Dollar City tickets cheap.
We got to SDC around lunch time and grabbed some snacks and then started off to see the park. I think O.J. said that at 5p there were 11,000 people at the park! It was busy but we still had fun. Emmett got to ride the train 2 times, once during the day and once at night when all the lights were on. He absolutely LOVED the boat ride where you shoot at targets. Late in the day they didn't have much of a line for the ride so he got to stay on and ride over and over and over (I think in the end he and Omi rode it 6 or 7 times in a row without getting off!).
Garrison enjoyed lots of snacks throughout the day.
He also got to go on the boat ride a couple of times and like helping daddy hold the gun.
We got to see the parade 2 times, it was pretty much the same as the last time.
Emmett got a high 5 from Raggedy Ann!
Emmett was SUPER excited about the train and the snowman driving it. He was asleep when we saw the parade 2 years ago with Grandma and Grandpa Beeson.
We got back to the room pretty late, Em and G were passed out so we just tossed them into bed and fell in bed ourselves pretty quickly.
Sunday we got up (after that extra hour of sleep, LOVE setting the clocks back an hour in the fall) and got packed up to leave. We went to brunch at the Devil's Pool, then took some time to walk a trail and visit the gift shop. Finally, we headed home.
Chris and I stopped at the outlets to check out OshKosh (nothing good) and Coleman (more about that later). Then stopped at Bass Pro again for a leg stretch and had dinner in Springfield. We also got a Frosty since there were 2 Wendy's right on the Sunshine strip we drove down. Garrison really enjoyed the frosty and playing with the spoon on his top gums where it looks like all 4 front teeth are go
