As I (dad) prepare to head back home to my family back in St. Louis, I wanted to take a moment and share a few places and things that I saw while down in Orlando this week.

We had the opportunity to take a local trolly service called the "I Ride Trolly". It looks very much like the old style open air trollies that were popular long ago. These trollies have been retrofitted with glass windows to protect (i presume) the passangers from the weather.

The FETC conference that I attended was held in the Orange County Convention Center. The convention center is very large and easily accomodated the over 10,000 participants at the conference.

In the afternoons when the conferences were over for the day, we had the opportunity to travel around town and see different attractions. One of the places we visited was the House of Blues Restaurant.

Good morning St. Louis!
Today you're waking up to a very warm 72 degrees fahrenheit, and not a cloud in the sky. What beautiful weather for this January.....oh...wait...that's not the weather report for St. Louis.
That's the weather report for Orlando Florida where I (Emmett's dad) is writing this entry from.

Yup...there's lots of sunshine,

oh yeah, and even some palm trees.
I'm down here this week at the FETC 2008 (Florida Educators Technology Conference) giving a presentation on how to podcast, more specifically, how to podcast on a classroom budget.
So far, I've attended the opening ceremonies, heard a few key note speakers, and am totally pumped to give my presentation tomorrow.
Gosh. I just wish I had packed a few more t-shirts and pairs of shorts...
:)

Topic: DIY Fixing A Battery Operated Glowstick |

On today's episode of DIY (do it yourself) we'll take a look at the inner workings of a Krill Battery Operated Glow Stick.
First up: Remove that darn screw on cap on the bottom of the glow stick. It's a little tricky, so you might have to ask an adult to help.

Next up: Dump out those batteries that are in there. You should find 2 double-A batteries inside. Once they're out, you better make sure they can go back in easily. This is where it gets tricky. You must spend at least 10 minutes putting the batteries back in, and taking them out again just to make sure!

Finally: Once you're satisfied there batteries are able to go back into the glow stick, go ahead and take a peek down inside the tube and see if there's anything down in there.

With any luck, once you put it all back together, your glow stick will be glowing bright green again! |

While on a trip to Dick's Sporting Goods last night, we stopped at Auntie Ann's Pretzel shop and got Emmett a snack. (Yup- we stopped just for him)

At first Emmett wasn't sure what it was I was putting on the table in front of him, but once he tasted the warm sugar coated pretzel, he just had to have more!
