December 1st is Emmett's second birthday.
In the past couple of weeks we've taught him to say "I'll be 2 on Monday".
December 1st finally arrived, and he got to take sugar cookies in the shapes of trains over to the sitters house to share with his friends. Emmett came home that afternoon exclaiming "I had a party today. There were cookies!"
That afternoon we asked Emmett what he would like for dinner. He thought about it and replied "How about a hamburger?" So for his birthday, he got to have McDonald's for dinner.
After dinner, Mom made Emmett a special cake in the shape of trains. Emmett especially loved eating the candy M and Ms.

After dinner, Emmett's grumpy stopped by to sing Happy Birthday.

This Thanksgiving weekend we went down to see the lights and sounds of the holidays at Silver Dollar City with Grandma and Grandpa Beeson.
We stayed in a cabin down on the lake front, and had lots of fun. We even played games way past our bedtime!

One of the areas of Silver Dollar City is the kids town play area. Here they had a 3 story ball pit with ball launchers, and vacuum tubes that sucked up the balls and spit them out somewhere else.
Also along the way we stopped at many craft stores. Emmett found the life size metal snowman to be a hit!
In the evenings there was a magical Christmas parade full of floats that came through the city. There was everyone from Santa Claus himself to Raggedy Anne and Andy, the Gingerbread men, and angels.

Sometimes while dad is out working in the garage, Emmett wants to jump in and play too.
Sometimes he sweeps the garage, sometimes he takes screws and bolts out of my toolbox and hides them all over the room for me and sometimes he just likes to get his blocks out and make towers.
One afternoon Emmett made a block tower, and then went to get dad to show it to him.

No, this isn't about the 1998 movie with Samuel L. Jackson.
This is about negotiating with an [almost] two year old.
About two weeks ago we asked Emmett if he was ready to get changed into new clothes.
His response: "How about on Thursday?"
We told him: "No how about today- on Tuesday?"
His response: "How about Friday?"
We had no idea that by singing the days of the week with him that it would enable him to negotiate with/against us!
