The other day I heard Emmett walk up to Amy and exclaim the following statement: "Mommy, I'm not a baby anymore, and someday I will grow up to be a big daddy; But right now, I'm just a medium size."

Topic: The Bad Dream

Early this morning, sometime before 5am I think, Emmett climbed down out of his bed, and walked into my bedroom and woke me up.

He was very concerned about a dream he had just had. Actually, it took quite some convincing to him that it was only a dream.

He told me that (in his dream) he caught Garrison chewing on a piece of his legos and was choking on it.

Since Garrison has been mobile (he can crawl, but prefers to hold your hand and walk/stumble around) we've been reminding Emmett to put away his small toys when he's done playing with them so Garrison doesn't get them and choke on them.

I suppose subconsciously it sank in, and caused him to dream about it last night.

During lunchtime today, I had an opportunity to talk to Amy, who said Emmett kept walking around the house this morning checking on Garrison every so often to make sure he indeed, was not choking on any of his toys.

Topic: I can't sleep without my horse!

Do you remember seeing this picture of Amy at the baby shower for Emmett?

Emmett has since grown attached to this horse, and each night he says: "I can't sleep without my horse."

This usually causes us to walk around the house each night looking for the horse before he can settle down and fall asleep.

On our vacation to the Lake of the Ozarks we accidentally left the horse where we were staying.

Once we returned, it was hard for Emmett to fall asleep each night.
Our friends, who's place we stayed at, were going back down to the lake themselves the next week.

To our surprise, they found the missing horse, and brought it back home to Emmett!

Emmett promptly wrapped it up and swaddled it calling it "his baby" and that he'd never leave it behind again.

Topic: Lake of the Ozarks Vacation 2010

Message:
This past weekend we took a "small vacation" down to the Lake of the Ozarks.

We called it a "small vacation" because it didn't take nearly as long to drive there as it did to get to Colorado for last year's family vacation!

While we were there we visited Ha Ha Tonka State Park, in Camdenton. At the park we got to visit the ruins of the turn-of-the-century stone castle built by a wealthy businessman. The empty shell of this great mansion overlooks Ha Ha Tonka Spring and Lake of the Ozarks from atop a 250-foot bluff.

On the way back from visiting Ha Ha Tonka state park, we visited Thunder Mountain Conservation Area, and climbed up an 80 foot fire tower and overlooked the Lake and surrounding Ozark hills.

In the evening, when the temperature was cooler, we ventured out for ice cream and Go Karts!

Emmett had never ridden go karts before, but they are dad's favorite night time activity on vacation!

Here you see Emmett waiting (impatiently) in line for his turn.

Below you'll need to squint your eyes, and turn your head slightly to view the other Go Kart pictures, as they were taking at night, and in a fast-moving environment, and the camera blurred them a bit.

Where we stayed at the lake there is a private pool. This caught Emmett's attention right away, and he enjoyed swimming it!

Garrison had his very own floating ring, and he had a blast kicking his feet and swimming in the water too!

On the way back home, to break up the several hour car ride, we stopped at Meremac Spring Park and fed the fish.
