Message: Mommy's family does Thanksgiving 2 times, with the Bells on Thursday and then with the Ammanns on Friday. So, keeping up the tradition, the Bells got together on Thursday for turkey at Central Baptist Church in Eureka (we need a big place to hold all those guys). Emmett was getting hungry, because he didn't eat much breakfast, he was saving room for all that yummy stuff he'd been hearing about, so he had a roll while everyone else was getting dinner ready. While eating dinner mom went to get him seconds on the mashed potatoes and apparently they were still a little too hot to Emmett's skin, because when he stuck his hand in them he screamed! The ice in the water used to cool his hand also made a nice snack.
After dinner Emmett and Stephanie played. She showed Emmett how to throw trash into the trashcan. He was a good helper and sad to see an end to the trash.
After dinner with the Bells Emmett went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Beeson. He had a cheez-it snack there, he wasn't ready for another meal, but snacks are always welcomed! He played ball with Grandpa, uncle Kevin, aunt Kim and daddy.
Friday, Emmett got to have his second day of Thanksgiving with the Ammanns and Caseys and Grandma and Grandpa Bells. Lots of little cousins to play with! Brendan, Alex and Ian were all there to play too. They all liked playing in Emmett's pop-up tent and playing peek-a-boo. Emmett got to eat Grumpy's favorite sage and potato stuffing and more of mommy's sweet potato casserole. And of course more of Grandma's rolls!
Message: This past week we made lasagna for dinner one evening. Emmett kept reaching for my plate of food, so we thought we might let him have some lasagna of his own just to see if he likes it.
Emmett had already had a complete dinner, and I didn't think he'd eat very much more. None the less, we stripped him of his shirt, and let him have a go at a helping of lasagna.
Watching the lasagna fly hand over fist into his mouth, we knew right away he loved it. I grabbed the camera, and caught him smearing some of it from his face.
After dinner it was of course time to do the dishes. Emmett got a kick out of getting to play with the silverware basket, something he's not normally allowed to play with.
Message: Early this morning Emmett was showing signs of being tired and ready for his morning nap. He was just walking around crying to himself.
I picked him up, and cuddled him in bed for a bit. After a few minutes of rubbing his eyes, he sat up and climbed off the bed.
I normally give him a few minutes on his own to see where he's going and what it is that he's looking for. He disappeared quickly into his own bedroom. A few minutes later he stumbled back into my bedroom with his arms up in the air doing a type of "follow me" noise.
I followed him into his bedroom, where he stood next to his crib, reaching through the bars for his sock monkey.
I grabbed it for him, and took him back to bed to cuddle. He squeezed the sock monkey up to his belly, and fell asleep right away.
Message: This afternoon I watched Emmett climb onto a long, wide box and had it crumple beneath him. Instead of pushing the box aside, and playing with something else, he kept repeatedly climbing up onto the box, and sliding down the side of it that had the decline. (like a playground slide)
I thought he wasn't aware that the box was broke, but without him knowing I was watching, he kept sliding down giggling, and getting back up and doing it again over and over. He knew what he was doing! ;)
The short video of him sliding down his box is in the video section of Emmett's Website.
