Topic: What Do You Do On A Snow Day?
Date: 2008-02-21 11:25:05
Message: Today the weather in St. Louis is very cold. It's only 20*F so far this morning, and there is freezing rain falling from the sky!

The school district called and canceled school for today, which means that mom and dad get to stay home and play with Emmett today.

What would you do with a whole day off?

Emmett apparently had his own ideas!

By 11am he went and got his stuffed monkey and blanket, and stood next to the rocking chair until I lifted him up into it. He only lasted 5 more minutes and then he was out.

Topic: Aren't Kids Supposed To Hate These?
Date: 2008-02-19 23:52:28
Message: Emmett has had a runny nose with a cough for the past week and every 15 minutes he needs his nose wiped.

I thought we might try one of those nose suction bulbs to help him remove some of his runny nose for him. I vividly remember not liking this device as a kid, and totally expected Emmett to have the same reaction.

To my surprise, when I put the bulb back in his dresser, he walked over to his room and said "up" until I came in and lifted him up to get the bulb back down.

He just wanted to sit in mom's lap and play with it some more. To him it was just another toy.

Topic: Is Twisting Oreos Learned or Natural
Date: 2008-02-13 18:31:03
Message: After Emmett ate his dinner tonight, we gave him a couple of oreos for dessert.

While watching him eat his oreos, I began to wonder if twisting oreos apart and eating the icing out of the middle first was something you learned by watching someone else eat oreos, or it you're naturally born with the urge to twist them apart this way.

After watching Emmett twist two open and eating the icing first, I decided it must be a natural instinct.

Topic: Boat and Sports Show
Date: 2008-02-10 17:31:55
Message: Today Emmett and I met up with Grandpa and Grandma Beeson, Uncle Kevin and Aunt Kimberley to head downtown for the 54th annual Boat and Sports Show.

Once we got inside out of the cold, Emmett was just amazed at how much there was to see!

First we went and visited the Jet Skis. A very nice sales lady let Emmett
sit on top of a brand new Jet Ski and have his picture taken.

Next we went over into the vendor area and saw a vendor about wild game hunts. At his vendor area he had several mounted deer and animals. Emmett spotted them from across the room, and pointed us in the direction of them. So we went over.

After we stood and admired the deer for a bit, we went to the opposite side of the convention center and saw the final rounds of the DockDogs compentition. The competition had run all week, and was down to the final 8 competing dogs. These dogs had to run across a dock, and jump as far as they could out into the water. We all got wet watching the dogs!

After watching the dogs, to dry out, we went back over to the boats. We saw big boats, little boats and lots of boats in between. Some of the boats you got to climb up on and look around. Emmett found a big pontoon boat to climb up on and play hide a seek with.
