Saturday, December 5, 2009 was PARTY day at the Beeson house! Mommy and daddy talked about it and decided that the best way to handle the first friend birthday and the traditional family birthday party was to do them both in one day, so we'd only have to do one major cleaning of the house.
Emmett had 3 friends from Miss Sherri's come and 2 others (one of mommy's friends from work and an long time friend of mommy and daddy's). The kids enjoyed pizza, fruit salad and train cake that aunt Nikki covered in CANDY. Then, played with Emmett's train table and trains. He did a nice job sharing his trains (he's been surprising us lately with his ability to share, Thanksgiving with Bells and Ammanns/Caseys he did a good job sharing with cousins).
Then it was present time. Everyone got him great things that were just what we wanted! He just discovered Lincoln Logs about 2 weeks ago at aunt Cindi's and loved them. Thanks for getting us our own Will!
Of course, it wouldn't have been a train themed birthday party without getting trains! He's loving that the ones his friends got have motors and watching them zoom around the tracks (how do they make kid's toys so fast?). One of the mommies called to see if play-dough was okay at our house, I told her we loved it! Emmett has been enjoying smashing the play-dough like mommy does with her garlic smasher and then cutting it with the special play-dough scissors. Of course, he had to do the delay to open the next gift because this is super exciting to play with right now.
Then in the evening (after not taking a nap--mommy did though)Emmett had lots of family visit to celebrate his birthday. He didn't wait to open Grumpy's gift with the rest of them, as soon as Grumpy walked in Emmett took the present and opened his only Birthday Thomas (and Omi was worried he'd get a dozen of them).
He had fun playing with gifts as he opened them and watching us play with them too. Great-Uncle Bob got him a nerf gun that he told aunt Nikki was for squirting her in the face as soon as he opened it (he's only seen squirt guns before, now, he's an expert and the pump action spring loaded gun, however, daddy won't be taking him hunting soon since his aim is so far off).
He loved the singing card he got that plays the song about the fishes swimming down in the meadow in an iddy biddy pool. He couldn't wait for daddy to get his motorcycle together so he could go tearing through the basement (I'm happy to report that he has learned to stop before hitting my freshly painted walls or the fire place).
It was really cute to hear him say on Sunday that we should tell people thank you for this or that because he was enjoying it so much. He and I worked on thank you cards in the afternoon.
